Hoggard's doubles tandem of Noah Milliken and Chase Horton advanced to the second round before being eliminated from the 4A individual state championships on Thursday.

The duo downed Charlotte Catholic's Patrick Menkhaus and Jack Deering 6-0, 6-4 in their first match to become just the seventh team in Hoggard history to advance past the opening round.

In the second round, Page's Hardy Brown and Naveed Foroudi won a three-set battle 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals.

Brown and Foroudi jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first set before the Hoggard team began to build some momentum. That carried into the second set, where Milliken and Horton secured three breaks to force a deciding set.

In the third set, Milliken held serve in the opening game. The Vikings broke Brown and Horton also held to build a 3-0 lead.

The Page team chipped away at the deficit and eventually won six consecutive games to clinch the victory.

Hoggard will host Millbrook in the third round of the 4A dual team playoffs Tuesday at 4 p.m.
