Vikings fall to defending state champions

Hoggard suffered a 6-3 loss to defending 4A state champions Millbrook on Friday afternoon in the opening round of the Port City Invitational.
 
The Vikings (1-1) got singles wins from Chase Horton and Matt Jensen at 2 and 4 respectively. Millbrook, which played without its top two players, claimed three three-set wins to take a 4-2 lead after singles.
 
Jensen teamed with Evan Linett for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
 
Hoggard will play a pair of matches tomorrow at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
