Vikes qualify three players for regionals

     Matt Johnson and Blake Hartley won a tough three setter in the semifinals and finished second in the doubles competition at the Mideastern Conference individual tournament on Friday at Ashley High School.
     The duo defeated Jordan Frazier and Mark Reed 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 to advance to the finals. They
were defeated by New Hanover's Sammy Kohl and Alex Gaines 6-4, 6-4 in the finals.
     Chad Phelps also qualified for next weekend's regional tournament by finishing third in singles. The senior fell to Woravin
Kumthonkittikul 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinals, but cruised to a 6-0, 6-4 win over New Hanover's Guilhem Nicolau in the third-place match.
     All three will play in the regional tournament starting Friday at Terry Sanford High School in Fayetteville. The top four in singles and doubles qualify for the state championships.
