Hoggard nips New Hanover

      Hoggard won two of three doubles matches to claim a 5-4 victory over cross-town rival New Hanover in a non-conference match on Monday, March 15.
     After splitting singles, the Vikings (5-1) took the lead with an 8-1 win at No. 1. The Wildcats (5-2) won 8-1 at No. 2, setting up a winner-take-all scenerio on court 3. Philip Bonner and Matt Johnson clinched the win with a 8-4 victory over Eric Leder and David Cox.
     Both teams proved worthy of their state rankings. Hoggard entered the match ranked No. 7 and New Hanover was No. 8.
     The two teams will face off in a conference match at New Hanover on April 8.
